What is the best age for your child’s first treatment? This is one of the most frequent questions asked by parents. The answer is, it’s never too early to start!
Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) can be introduced at any age, even in infancy. We offer pediatric care centered around the wellbeing of each patient as a whole, focusing on their body’s needs of foundational support, nurturing, and guidance as they continue to grow. We additionally specialize in fertility treatment along with prenatal and postnatal care, allowing us to support mom and baby’s health from the earliest stages of development.
TCM can be helpful in addressing both common and complex issues affecting patients of all ages. Through the process of learning about your child’s health and where there may be a need for regulation, we work with them to resolve underlying imbalances early on. This makes for a healthier and happier childhood, while also providing preventative care so that current issues don’t develop with them as they age.
Some of the conditions that we commonly treat include recurrent colds, asthma, sleep disturbances, digestive issues, childhood developmental disorders, and chronic illness among many others.
How do we navigate needle sensitivity in pediatric patients? Fortunately, we have many tools available that are needle-free.
Our treatments often consist of non-needling techniques such as suction cupping, moxibustion, laser therapy or manual tools that gently roll, slide, or tap along the skin. Exploring and explaining these tools is always a part of the process. Patients are also welcome to bring in their favorite toy for us to practice on. If kids feel comfortable enough after adjusting to treatments, we have the choice to add in small needles, but other effective options are always available.
Each treatment is an opportunity for patients to take part in their healthcare at a young age, while also learning that medicine doesn’t have to feel scary and taking care of their bodies can be fun. Our goal is for your little ones to feel safe and at ease. Their treatments are their “me” time where they get to voice how they feel, work towards feeling better, and learn about their bodies in the process.
